Riley + Evan

i finally did it — welcome to my very first blog post! i’ve been wanting to start blogging for a while now, and what better way to kick things off than with a session that completely lit up my heart.

i met Riley and Evan on May 12th at McCormick’s Creek State Park, one of Indiana’s most beautiful hidden gems. they’ve officially booked me for their October 2025 wedding (eek!), and this session was their complimentary engagement shoot — and also the perfect chance to talk through wedding plans. while we were out exploring the trails, i gave them their “wedding homework” — a sample shot list to help them start planning family and bridal party portraits ahead of time. trust me, doing this early makes wedding day portraits smooth, easy, and way less stressful!

Riley and Evan love hiking together, so it made perfect sense to kick off our session on the trails, surrounded by nature and all the green spring magic. we wrapped things up in my absolute favorite spot — the waterfall. there’s just something about photographing couples in water that gets me every time. it’s fun, raw, and so romantic. and let me tell you… these two? you can see their love from miles away. their connection, laughter, and total comfort with each other made my job feel effortless.

i can’t wait to document their wedding day this October and continue sharing more behind-the-scenes stories with you right here. stay tuned — more blog posts, more love, and more muddy boots coming soon.

a little note on all the lowercase…

yep, you’ll notice i write in lowercase — unless it’s names or dates (because those deserve a little extra love). why? honestly, i just find it more aesthetic. it feels softer, more me, and a little less “english class formal.”

i know it might not be “professional” by traditional standards, but like… who even made those rules? probably someone who never had to caption a photo of a couple making out in a waterfall.

so, lowercase it is. it’s authentic, it’s cozy, and it’s the way my words feel most like home.

thanks for rolling with it ♡

until next time — stay wild, stay in love, and don’t forget to pack extra socks if you’re hiking into a waterfall with me.
xo,
Tashenna Rai ♡
